MTM is the state of Rhode Island’s non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) manager. We arrange rides for eligible Rhode Island residents as follows:

• Qualified individuals can receive rides to non-emergency Medicaid-covered appointments.
• Non-Medicaid enrollees who qualify for the Elderly Transportation Program (ETP) can receive rides to medical services.
• Participants in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program/RI Works can receive monthly bus passes to pursue employment opportunities.

Your rides can be booked online through MTM Link. You may also call us at 1-855-330-9131 (TTY: 711). You must call at least 48 business hours before your appointment, unless your trip is urgent. We schedule routine trips Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can schedule urgent trips 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Below are some examples of typical passenger requirements. These are not all inclusive and may vary by organization.

• Being medically stable
• Not requiring medical care during the flight
• Ability to enter and exit a small aircraft with minimal assistance (in some cases this means climbing steps or onto the wing of an aircraft)
• Ability to sit upright in a seat with seat belt fastened for the entire flight
• A verifiable medical need or other compelling need for travel. Most VPOs will request a medical release from the patient’s physician.
• A financial need or other compelling circumstances. This will be determined by the organization, often on a case-by-case basis.

Connects patients with charitable aviation organizations that will fly to doctors for free. Flights are provided by qualified charitable aviation organizations through volunteer pilots flying private aircraft, or through commercial airline partners. Entire northeast United States

Provided free air transportation for medical and humanitarian purposes.

Patient under the age of 18 can be accompanied by up to 2 parents or legal guardians, patient age 18 may be accompanied by 1 medically-necessary caregiver, be able to board and exit the aircraft and sit upright in seat or wheelchair, not on any life support systems, meet airline approved portable oxygen criteria, going to or from recognized treatment center, have self arranged ground transportation, self pay baggage fees, and meet income guidelines. Qualifying applicants may receive assistance as often as needed.

• Incidental Medical Expense Assistance

Flight requests require a minimum of 21 days notice before travel date and medical clearance to fly.

Provides free medical transportation to patients and caregivers. Transportation services include on the ground with gas cards, bus and train tickets and in the air with flights.

• Non-Emergency Medical Transportation

Children and adults with serious medical conditions.

Provides rides to and from cancer-related medical appointments for patients who otherwise might not be able to get there. Based on eligibility and availability, individuals are matched with volunteer drivers, transportation providers working with the American Cancer Society, or other local resources.

Provides complimentary, roundtrip tickets to nonprofit hospitals and medical transportation organizations to distribute the tickets to patients and/or caregivers. The grant program partners with nonprofit hospitals and organizations. Each hospital has its own guidelines for administration of these tickets.

Varies by state

Provides the non-emergency medical transportation needs to medical providers that serve Utah Medicaid members who have no other way to get a ride, and who may need a single trip or regularly reoccurring (standing order trips) non-emergency medical transport.
