Programs that provide transportation for medical appointments, trips from and between hospitals, to nursing homes or other special-care centers or for other non-emergency medical needs for individuals who, because of financial problems or their physical condition, are unable to use other means of local transportation. NEMT service providers are able to transport riders who require a wheelchair lift equipped vehicle with appropriate protective restraints or a van that is designed for gurney/stretcher transportation, or has other types of features to meet their safety needs. Services Provided: Angel Wheels to Healing (formerly Angel Bus) is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to providing compassionate, non-emergency long-distance ground transportation to patients in need. A typical trip supported by Angel Wheels to Healing does not exceed 300 miles (one-way), and we do not normally handle trips within a local area or community. Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis, routinely for cancer patients traveling daily for treatment.

Eligibility: Patient under the age of 18 can be accompanied by up to 2 parents or legal guardians, patient age 18 may be accompanied by 1 medically-necessary caregiver, be able to board and exit the aircraft and sit upright in seat or wheelchair, not on any life support systems, meet airline approved portable oxygen criteria, going to or from recognized treatment center, have self arranged ground transportation, self pay baggage fees, and meet income guidelines. Qualifying applicants may receive assistance as often as needed.
Services Provided: Provides financial assistance to qualifying low income children and adult patients, their families, and caregivers for commercial air travel to obtain special medical care.

Free transportation to medical care with gas cards, bus and train tickets, and air trips flown by volunteer pilots and commercial airlines. Patients must be physically capable of boarding a small airplaine or commercial airliner and require no medical assistance during travel.
