Support Groups
The Village currently offers two support groups for foster and adoptive families.
The Peer Support Group is an adult only group. This provides an opportunity for the parent to get out and meet other foster and adoptive parents, to relax and be able to share freely in a non-judgement zone.
The Kinship Care Support Group
For this group, childcare is provided, and kinship caregivers can meet others facing some of the same joys and challenges.

Peer Mentoring
For those who need ongoing or on the spot assistance and answers, the Village offers peer mentoring. A new or experienced foster and/or adoptive parent can be assigned a mentor who has faced similar challenges.

The Open Closet is a service to help resource families find needed items such as clothes, equipment, diapers, books and toys. The Open Closet items are provided through donations and contain both new and gently used items. Open Closet hours are available by appointment.

The Village was incorporated in March 2016 as RI’s only foster and adoptive family founded and governed support organization.

The Mission of the Village is to contribute to the development and maintenance of a robust network of healthy, committed, and well trained resource families for children in RI needing out of home care.
