Children must be under age 3 and have a developmental disability or delay in one or more areas. Coverage areas include: Charlestown, Coventry, Cranston, East Greenwich, Exeter, Hopkinton, Jamestown, Narragansett, North Kingstown, Richmond, South Kingstown, Warwick, West Greenwich and West Warwick.

Children referred to the Early Intervention Program receive a comprehensive developmental evaluation to determine if they are eligible.

One of the goals of Early Intervention is to provide support to families so their children can develop to their fullest potential.

Services are provided in places where children usually play or take part in daily activities. Caregivers are included in all visits to encourage carry-over between visits. Specialized therapy services (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy), as well as nutritional, nursing and family support are provided. Many services take place in the child’s home, but may also occur at the EI center, child care center, or community setting.

All referrals to Pathways should be made in writing by the local educational authority (LEA) of the city or town in which the child resides.

Pathways Strategic Teaching Center is an education and treatment program designed to maximize independence and enhance the lives of individuals with autism and other developmental disorders.
