Eligibility: Families interested in enrolling at the International Charter School must complete an application (due February 22), choose the Spanish-English or Portuguese-English language strand, and enter the annual lottery, which is held in early March. Students entering kindergarten must be 5 years old by September 1st and students entering 1st grade must be 6 years old by September 1st.
Services Provided: ICS currently enrolls grades Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Full-day Kindergarten.
ICS uses a dual language bilingual education model, in which all students learn 50% of the time in English and 50% of the time in either Spanish or Portuguese, depending of program strand of choice.
Provider Profiles: he International Charter School is a dual language, elementary public school of choice, located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The Rhode Island Department of Education allows charter schools to be established by public school districts or Rhode Island non-profit organizations. The International Institute of Rhode Island was granted the initial charter for the International Charter School in 2001.
