Eligibility: Youth must be between the ages of 14 and 24, and be a Rhode Island resident to participate in the Youth Center. Additional, more in-depth services are available through our Workforce Investment Act funding if a youth meets low income guidelines and has an additional barrier (as defined by WIA). For more specific eligibility information please contact the local Youth Center.
Services Provided: Intake and Assessment (application for service, vocational interest inventory, academic assessment)
• Job Skills (resume writing, applications, mock interviews)
• Academic Services (Pre- GED, remediation, GED)
• Contextual Learning (how academic skills apply to the world of work)
• Case Management (facilitation of services, referral to outside providers)
• Follow-up Services (tracking for status once services are complete)
• Summer Jobs Program
• Leadership Development (how adults conduct themselves in their daily lives, independent living skills)
• Job Readiness and Work Experience
Provider Profiles: The Youth Centers provide outreach, recruitment, intake, orientation and assessment for 400 youth, 14-24 years of age, in the East Bay area. Additional components include work experience, job development and placement, work readiness, leadership development and adult mentoring. Partner agreements provide satellite offices at high schools in East Providence, Newport, Bristol, Middletown, Portsmouth and Tiverton.
