The Audubon Society of Rhode Island is an independent, not-for-profit environmental organization dedicated to statewide environmental educationconservation and advocacy. Established in 1897, it is the oldest environmental organization in the state.

The Corporation for National and Community Service is a federal agency that engages more than five million Americans in service through Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, Learn and Serve America, and United We Serve.
AmeriCorps State and National is a federal volunteer service program under the AmeriCorps umbrella that provides funds for local and national organizations and agencies committed to using national service to address critical community needs in education, public safety, health and the environment. Recipient organizations use their AmeriCorps funding to recruit, place, and supervise AmeriCorps members who serve in AmeriCorps State and National projects in every state, U.S. territories and on tribal reservations. Full-time members receive a living allowance, health coverage, and child care, if needed. After successfully completing their term of service, they receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award which can be used to pay off qualified student loans or to finance college, graduate school, or vocational training at eligible institutions; or an end-of-service stipend. The mission of United Way is to improve people's lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities.

United Ways across the country activate community resources to make the greatest possible human impact. The United Way system includes approximately 1,400 community-based United Way organizations. Each is independent, separately incorporated and governed by local volunteers.
